Playing Positions
D Major

- Position 2Start on the second hole draw. This position is essential for blues and allows for expressive bends to get the blue notes.
E Minor
- Position 3Start on the first hole draw. This position is useful for minor key songs and requires some bending to achieve the minor scale.
G Major
- Position 4Start on the fourth hole blow. This position is less common but useful for certain melodies in G major.
B Minor
- Position 5Start on the sixth hole draw. This position allows for playing in B minor and is useful for certain folk and minor key songs.
A Minor
- Position 12Start on the second hole draw but emphasize the minor scale notes. This position is useful for playing in A minor and requires bending to achieve the minor third and sixth.
